United by Music Balamuc and ShunTA! fundraising gig in aid of Ukrainian crisis
Time & Location
12 May, 19:00
London, 316 High Rd, London N15 4BP, UK
About the event
t's been almost two months since the war in Ukraine broke out. It's caused a lot of suffering, pain, and deaths of innocent civilians, as well as the mass exodus of Ukrainians trying to find themselves a new home elsewhere. We can't stop the cruelty and evil forces from taking over, but we can balance it out with a certain amount of goodness and compassion.
That is why, our amazing bands of Balamuc and Shunta, as well as befriended gypsy dancers, are organizing this fundraiser together to help as much as we can, by providing vital funds to those who need them right now.
We will be donating all the profits to British Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal and are hoping to make it an unforgettable night, standing together in unity against evil and soothing the hearts with beautiful sounds from Eastern Europe.
Joined by their love of Balkan and Eastern European folk and dance music, Balamuc take pride in their cultural diversity with roots in Europe, the Middle East and the Pacific. Balamuc formed in 2018 when Hungarian violinist and lead vocalist, Agnes Banner and two other members of the London Gypsy Orchestra decided to explore a new repertoire of Eastern European music.
We make the audience dance and we play in popular venues across London, such as Upstairs at the Ritzy, Jamboree, venues in Hackney, such as Paper Dress Vintage. We are spreading our wings outside of London too, over the summer we were part of Wilderness Festival lineup and we have been the main band in Cambridge at the opening night Tall Trees venue.
We have released an album called “Yedi Kedi”. Please see below a brief bio, links to social media and website, reviews and links to music.

shunTA! are fast developing a reputation as one of London’s most exciting party bands, with our relentlessly upbeat musical tour of the Balkans. We perform a slick, high tempo, thumping take on Romani Gypsy and Eastern European folk tunes, anthems and singalongs.
We live to entertain and to create a real connection with the beautiful people who come to see us, jumping and koloing to pounding beats from the Balkans and around the Mediterranean. We’re a diverse group of musicians aged from 24 to 60 and hailing from various countries, drawn together by our love of heart-rending melodies and complicated rhythms, but most of all by our love of the Balkan people, and our amazing audiences.
